Text appears automatically when your file and encoding are ready.

How to convert SRT to TXT

  1. Choose your subtitle. Select or drop one SRT file. If asked, check the decoded text and confirm its encoding.
  2. Choose an output mode. Keep line breaks or merge each subtitle into a paragraph. The complete text is generated automatically and updates when you change modes.
  3. Download or preview. Save the TXT file using Download TXT above the preview. Select and scroll the complete text in the result area, or use the original subtitle timeline for reference. Review any parsing repairs or skipped entries.

Format notes

Text follows the original file’s entry order. Subtitle numbers, timestamps and recognized formatting tags are removed; supported character references are decoded. Keep line breaks preserves newlines within each entry. Merge lines into paragraphs replaces those newlines with spaces. Entries stay separated by a blank line in both modes, with no deduplication or sentence rewriting. Output is UTF-8 without a BOM, with LF line endings. The subtitle preview keeps the original timing; TXT has no subtitle track.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the two output modes?

Keep line breaks preserves each subtitle’s internal newlines. Merge lines into paragraphs turns those newlines into spaces, making one paragraph per subtitle. Both modes separate entries with a blank line; the entire file is not merged into one paragraph.

Does extraction change the order or remove repeated text?

No. Valid entries follow their original order in the SRT file, including repeated text. The preview list may display entries by time, but that does not reorder the TXT output.

What happens to formatting and invalid entries?

Recognized formatting tags, numbering and timing are excluded from TXT. Supported character references become readable characters. Entries whose timing cannot be parsed are skipped with a diagnostic. The original file remains unchanged.

Do I need to click Convert?

No. Text is generated automatically when the file and any required encoding confirmation are ready. Changing output mode updates the full text and download. The original subtitle player remains available for reference.

Is the full text available to select?

Yes. The result shows the complete text in a read-only area. Long lines wrap on screen and long results scroll. These visual wraps do not add line breaks to your downloaded TXT file.

Is my subtitle uploaded?

Your subtitle file is read and processed in your browser. Its content and filename are not uploaded to a server. The page still requests the resources needed to run the website.
